Problems of education management in post-soviet Russia in the context
of dissertation research on pedagogy

Abstract: The article is devoted to solving a scientific problem caused by the contradiction between the requirements
for the quality of education management in the context of education reform in modern Russia and the existing practice
of education management, which is unable to provide the required quality. The scientific task that allows for solving this
problem is to identify the scientific potential of pedagogical science in the field of education management and identify
areas for improving management practices in education reform. To implement this task, based on a systematic approach,
a retrospective analysis of well-known concepts and theories of education management, dissertation research on pedagogy
for the period 1992-2022 was carried out. A sample of 664 abstracts of dissertations on general pedagogy and theory of methods of vocational education from a total array of 37057 (https://new-disser.ru/index.php?cat=1899&ysclid=lpt
qls1aem405320829), the topics of which state the problems of education management. An analysis of the materials of
scientific publications and dissertations on the problems of education management in pedagogy has shown that science,
in general, has the necessary ideas, concepts, designed systems, sound technologies, and experimentally proven effective
results that significantly improve the quality of education management at all levels of the education system. Unfortunately,
the conducted research allowed us to state the existence of a gap between management theory and practice. The most
urgent problems in education management are identified: professional training of education managers in the higher
education system, management of the formation and development of educational systems, and development of educational
management technologies.
