Suggestions for preparing students forinclusive education through
the technology of social and emotional learning

Abstract: The current situation actualizes the need for an emotional-value attitude of the subjects of the educational
process at all its levels. An important component of the training of future teachers is not only the formation of their
professional competence but also the improvement of social skills and value-oriented direction. The present study considers
the possibility of applying the technology of social-emotional learning in preparing university students for work in an
inclusive education environment. A theoretical review of domestic and foreign scientific achievements made it possible
to identify the necessary range of social skills. The mechanism of using the technology of social-emotional learning in
preparing students of higher education for inclusive practice is determined, which consists of living social-educational
situations, evaluating them, constructing value goals, meanings, and plans, managing one’s feelings, interpreting the
feelings and emotions of other people. Significant methods are identified that encourage higher education students to
understand the meaning and value of pedagogical activity in a situation of joint education of children with normative and
impaired development. The planned results of implementing the considered technology are presented, including the ability of future teachers to solve professional problems in the field of inclusive pedagogical practice, as well as their possession of
a value attitude towards an inclusive culture and its subjects, including persons with disabilities.
