Content transformation of the basic value Ehrlichkeit (honesty) in German linguistic culture

Abstract: The article examines the content of the basic value Ehrlichkeit (honesty) in German linguistic culture. The study of this value is relevant, due to its controversial nature and the lack of clear criteria. To establish the content   of the basic value, the data from a free associative experiment conducted with 600 carriers of German linguistic culture aged 17 to 23 years in 2022 were used, which made it possible to detect deep associative connections of the word. The  theoretical and methodological basis of the study is the theory of speech activity, which allows us to consider the ratio of stimulus and reaction as a speech action, which is based on the act of predication. By studying the nature of predication, in which “stimulus and reaction are connected by regular semantic relationships” (Butakova, 2012, p. 199), it is possible to determine the personal meaning and the degree of its discrepancy with the invariant meaning of the lexeme, which is considered the basis for establishing the transformation of the content of the word. As a result of the study, it was found that Ehrlichkeit (honesty) is a basic value for the interviewed carriers of the German linguistic culture. Honesty is perceived
