Attitude of students of pedagogical
and railway universities to academic dishonesty

Abstract: The work is devoted to the topical problem of modern higher education i.e. academic dishonesty among students. Initially, the authors turn to a theoretical review of recent research in national and foreign science. The review allows understanding the views of scientists on the problem of academic dishonesty, its origins and forms. The purpose  of the study was to identify differences in the attitude of students of pedagogical and railway universities to academic dishonesty. In the course of the study, the following theoretical research methods were used: analysis, synthesis, comparison and generalization. In the empirical part of the study, a questionnaire survey was used. The empirical study was conducted on the basis of a questionnaire developed by the authors. It contained eleven multiple choice questions. The obtained data were processed and subjected to comparative analysis. In the course of the comparison, we searched for differences in   the attitude of students of pedagogical and railway universities to academic dishonesty. The results of the study showed significant differences in the attitude of students to the studied phenomenon. However, the research hypothesis that students

of a pedagogical university are more intolerant of academic dishonesty due to their professional orientation towards the educational achievements of students than students of a railway university was not confirmed.

Keywords: academic dishonesty, questionnaire survey, railway university, research, pedagogical university, plagiarism, cheating, student.
