Assessment of universal competencies succession within a future teacher professional trajectory

Abstract. Legislative changes in teachers training and their professional activity process demanded all educational organizations to revise their legal instruments. The main innovation was the introduction of universal competencies, which unified all the profiles of bachelor training process in Russia. Despite the unified formulation of universal competencies, indicators of universal competencies should be specified in the core curriculum, which have to reflect the requirements for the future teacher professional activity and match all the training levels. The unresolved issue of federal state standards conjugation for various education levels leads to a discrepancy between the core curriculum of the teacher training process and their future occupational activity. The aim of the study is to analyze and assess the matching and formation level of the universal competencies of pedagogical university students. The existence of the aforementioned discrepancy is illustrated by the study of the universal competency number 4. Competency describes the ability of a bachelor to carry out business communication in oral and written forms in the state language of the Russian Federation and foreign language(s). The research is carried out on the theoretical methods basis of analysis and comparison of the Federal State Educational Standard of Secondary Education and Federal State Educational Standard of the Higher Education. In order to assess the universal competencies was used a non-personalized approach, the essence of which is to analyze the signs of the universal competencies formation in the core curriculum. As a result of the research, an edited version of the universal competency number 4 indicators was proposed. The authors presented the descriptors of competency formation at the levels of “to know – be able to do – to perform”. It is concluded that it is necessary to include the proposed descriptors in the bachelor training courses.
