“Life and Death” opposition in the materials of the corpus
of the Medium Irtysh region folk dialect

Abstract: The article reveals the relationship between the concepts of Life and Death, represented in the texts of the regional
corpus of folk speech of the Medium Irtysh region, and the key constants of traditional speech culture. The materials of the regional
corpus of folk speech of the Medium Irtysh region reflect the dialectal picture of the world, in which the values of speakers of dialects
are manifested. The principle of thematic markup of texts helps to reconstruct the main concepts that reflect the folk mentality of
the region as part of the national one. To identify the relationship between the concepts of Life and Death and other concepts of the
linguistic consciousness of dialect speakers, a conceptual analysis of the constants of speech culture, reflected in thematically marked
texts of the folk speech corpus, was carried out. The study made it possible to model a fragment of the dialectal picture of the world,
reflecting the key categories associated with Life and Death. The inhabitants of the Medium Irtysh region attach great importance to
the family, home, animals, health and faith, and also value life, which should be healthy and fulfilling. Death is considered inevitable,
but not feared. The results obtained during the study can be used for a deeper understanding of the national mentality in general
and the values of the region in particular, and they can also be useful for dialectological, ethnographic, cultural and corpus studies.

Keywords: regional corpus of texts, dialectology, axiology, conceptology, picture of the world.
