Quantification of foreign language training of technical
universitystudents

Abstract: The authors focus on the problem of assessing the quality of foreign language training of students of a
technical university. Foreign language training has always been and remains an integral part of the educational process of
students, the most important tool for forming a competence portrait of a professional, helping to increase the competitiveness
in the labor market of a graduate of each Russian technical university. However, at present, a foreign language teacher of
a technical university does not have enough methodological tools necessary for effective monitoring of the educational
process, as well as for current, intermediate, and final control of its results. It is shown that the quantification of foreign
language training of students of a technical university is a requirement of the time and should be considered not only as
a manifestation of a qualimetric approach to assessing learning, the level of motivation and the formation of students’
competencies but also as an incentive to improve the quality of foreign language training and an effective way to enhance
the work of all participants in the educational process. The quantification model of foreign language training, proposed by the authors based on the results of the experimental work, is a reliable and technologically advanced diagnostic tool
that makes it possible to effectively solve the practical problems of pedagogical qualimetry and provide the information
necessary to adjust the process of teaching a foreign language in a particular technical university, taking into account its
specifics. Recommendations on the practical application of the proposed model are given.
