The study of seme shifts in etymologically related words denotingthe expression of feelings basing onthe etymological dictionariesentries texts

Abstract: The article examines the texts of dictionary entries describing the schemes for the development of the  meanings of words denoting “expression of feelings”. The seme shift can be traced by referring to other languages, which may give a hint of more ancient meanings of the etymon. The seme “expression of feelings” is contained in the following etymons: *dha-, *tha-; *pes(t); *mei-, *moi-; *leu-; *plau-; *go-; *su-, *sai-; *reu-; *pei-, *pau;*ag-; *b(h)eu-. These etymons are at the head of minimal etymological series.
