Analysis of the sustainable development trends of the regional socio-economic system: a healthcare case
Abstract: The importance of healthcare as one of the system-forming factors of economic development at the regional and local levels is beyond doubt. The article is devoted to the substantiation of a comprehensive theoretical approach to the study of the regional healthcaresystem. The methodological basis of the study is represented by a set of provisions on sustainable socio-economic development, the theory of system sustainability, as well as concepts of health care development. The article analyzes the state of the healthcare system in the Russian Federation and in the Sverdlovsk region. The assessment of the current state of the healthcare system is given, regional trends in the development of the healthcare system are identified and shown. A group of indicators of regional health sustainability is summarized. The key conclusions about the state of the health care system in the Sverdlovsk region are made and the basic factors of increasing its sustainability are determined. The healthcare system is the most important component of the socio-economic system of the region, since maintaining the health of the population contributes to economic growth in a particular region, providing higher economic activity and increasing regional labor productivity. The formation of conditions for the sustainable development of healthcare can become a key factor in the attractiveness of the region or its municipalities for migration, both internal and external labor. It is the development of regional technical, personnel and technological infrastructure in the healthcare system that can increase regional labor productivity, especially in such an environmentally problematic region as the Sverdlovsk Region.
