Pushkin’s Speech” by F. M. Dostoevsky: poetics and politics

Abstract: The article is critically analyzes the widespread idea of “Pushkin’s speech” by F.M. Dostoevsky as a publicistic text. The following key concepts are singled out (“Russian wanderer” – “soil” – “worldwide responsiveness”), on the one hand, they fit into a clear logical triad (thesis – antithesis – synthesis), and on the other hand, reveal semantic diversity and even inconsistency, which destabilizes ideological clarity and unambiguity. The other side of this is that the importance of the personal-biographical plan of Dostoevsky’s speech is noted, as well as the most important setting for “figurative realization”, the desire for forceful transformation of life in the light of its ideal meaning, in which the aesthetic nature of the text is clearly shown. The integration of the ideology and aesthetics expands the classical boundaries and privileges of literature and is capable of causing conflicting opinions.

Keywords: Dostoevsky, Pushkin, ‘‘Pushkin’s speech”, publicism, aesthetic nature of the text.
