MEDIA IMAGE AS A TOOL OF TERRITORY IMAGE CREATION: COGNITIVE ASPECT

The article deals with problem of studying the territorial image. (a township of Khanty-Mansyisk au-tonomous district, Tyumen region as an example). It is specially noted the issue related to the reconstruction of the media image of the territorial administrative facility in the case of one of the urban-type settlements of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District of the Tyumen Region. The use of the method of linguocognitive modeling in the study of the media image is proposed. The understanding of the content of such concepts of cognitive science as a stereotype and a frame is specified. Knowledge and ideas about a specific territory, broadcasted by the media are identified. A classification of the revealed mental constructs is proposed. The content of the concept “media image” is discovered. Much attention is given to the media education in creat-ing a media image and promoting a territorial image as a whole. Conclusions are drawn about journalism, image, PR are increasingly becoming areas of applied research of cognitive linguistics. The theoretical sig-nificance of this work compose the position of the terminological terminology apparatus, the cognitive lin-guist, the theory of journalism and image-making, and the description of the procedure of linguistic cognitive modeling. The practical significance of the study consist in the possibility of using the proposed methodolo-gy for reconstructing the image of a territorial object in developing strategies for the promotion of Russian regions.
