RELIGIOUS IDEAL OF UNIVERSAL SPIRITUAL LIFE IN THE LYRICS BY M. YU. LERMONTOV (1837–1841)

Abstract:

The article studies the biblical motifs in the lyrics of M. Y. Lermontov. The aim of the article is to identify the religious ideal of the spiritual fullness in the lyrics of Russian romanticist. The research is accomplished by relying on historic-genetic, cultural-historical and comparative methods, as well as method of holistic analysis. The article has a synergetic focus, synthesizing academic approaches of literally studies, linguistics, cultural stud-ies and philosophy. The research analyzes the Lermontov’s lyrical texts of diverse genres, created in the later pe-riod of his life («I come out to the path, alone…» (1841); «The Prophet», 1841).
The research reveals that biblical motifs in Lermontov’s lyrics play an important structure-forming role, shaping the chronotopos of the text, implementing the model of ascension from physical to metaphysical world. The article discloses the ideas of the divine creation of the world, of grace, of the Logos. Artistic worldview of Russian poet reveals imaginative ideas of the immortality, eternity, freedom and peace. The article contributes to the studies of artistic ontology of Russian romanticist, his philosophical aspect and religiosity. Along with the re-ligious foundations of Lermontov’s worldview, the article reveals the peculiarities of his individual mythopoetry in exploration of archaic antithesis of live and dead, the earthly and the heavenly.
