Abstract:

The article deals with the literary criticism issue of the inclusion of Pushkin’s text of one version of the ballad “There Lived a Poor Knight…” in the poetics of the F. M. Dostoevsky`s novel “The Idiot”. This prob- lematic literature issue was studied by S. M. Bondi, I. Z. Surat, R. V. Iezuitova. The article concludes that Dostoevsky often pondered the mystery and incompleteness of Pushkin’s text; the article also provides ex- amples from the preparatory material for “The Idiot” novel and “Entries to the “Diary of a Writer”. Reasonong from these insights the parameters for the analysis of the poetics of the F. M. Dostoevsky’s novel “The Idiot” are formulated in the context of correlation with the text of Pushkin’s ballads. The correlation process involves a holistic systemic-structural analysis of the A. S. Pushkin`s poetic text “There Lived a Poor Knight…”, which Dostoevsky turned into a novel with his own interpretation. The role of the ballad in the poetics of Dostoevsky’s novel lies largely in the fact that we see a description of one strong line in Pushkin’s text which is the basis of “The Idiot” novel. This leading line encompasses the integrity of the Christological ideas. The performed research is important for the theory and practice of teaching literature in schools and universities.
