Abstract:
The article examines the theoretical development of the idea of the University. Allocated General and special characteristic of the classic University problems, most important of which are, the introduction of science into the educational process and the professionalization of University education. Traced the trans-formation of the idea of the University defined by the process of industrialization. In this connection, ana-lyzes the changes in approaches to professional education in the twentieth century.
