Abstract:

The article analyzes one of the means expressing the functional-semantic field of conditionality in the Azerbaijani language. The means used to express this field are different; the field was studied on the material of many languages. In modern linguistics, the concept of “conditionality” is studied by linguists in various aspects. First of all, it should be noted that etymological studies of constructions expressing conditional relations were carried out in all languages. At the same time, conditional semantic analyses was used at the level of simple and complex sentences, various types of compound and complex sentences with conditional and causal relations. A new stage in the study of conditional constructions has already begun in modern linguistics. Linguistic units expressing condition are considered as an integral category. Depending on the relevance to a particular linguistic level, these tools are systematized by researchers in various forms and combined under one semantical meaning. This category has been found in most languages. In the Azerbaijani language, conditionality means the conditional mood of a verb and a complex sentence with a subordinate clause. These two concepts are closely related to each other. The – affix sa / -sə is an indicator of these language facts formations. The particle -се and its affix form can also be considered as one of the main tools expressing conditionality. In the Azerbaijani language, the affix -sa / -sə forming both the conditional mood of the verb and the subordinate clause, plays an important role in the implementation of conditional semantics. Conditional verbs cannot be the predicate of a compound sentence; they are only the predicate part of a compound sentence and associate the performance of an action with certain conditions. In general, the conditional suffixes of the verbs in the Azerbaijani language are the future tense suffixes. The affix -sa / -sə fulfills various morphological, syntactic and stylistic functions, both historically and now plays an important role in the Turkic languages. Our research allowed us to come to the conclusion that the formation of functional-semantic conditionals in the Azerbaijani language is based on the affix -sa / -sə. If the affix -sa / -sə is used in the formation of a complex sentence with a clause in the conditional mood of the verb or in the affix form of the particle -isə, then we can talk about the presence of conditional content in this sentence.
