criticism and literary studies

Abstract: The article summarizes research approaches to the study of the work by M. Petrosyan ‘‘The Gray House”. The work was published in 2009 and after more than 10 years it is necessary to analyze the promising ways of this book conceptualizationin modern literary criticism. The purpose of the article is to identify the main areas of research and their results. The object of this article is to determine the main ways to analyze M. Petrosyan’s book, which have developed in modern literary criticism and literary works, as well as to comprehend further prospects to study the stylistic harmonycreated by the writer. In other words, the methods and methodology to analyze ‘‘The Gray House” are still developing. We observe not only different, but sometimes contradictory conclusions that modern researchers come to. The analysis ensureda number of the most relevant research topics: the use of the biographical method to comprehend the writing (E. Moldanova, N. Karaeva, K. Milchina, G. Yuzefovich, T. Gevorkyan), the definition of genre features and the literary context of the novel (E. Birger , G. Kubatyan, V. A. Meskin, L. V. Gaidash, O. I. Osipova, A. V. Biyakaeva), consideration of the artistic originality of the literary work as a whole (chronotope, figurative system, the problem of the dual world) (G. Kubatyan, O. I. Osipova, M. Galina, A. Kirillova, P. Deinichenko and others). The novel ‘‘The Gray House” by M. Petrosyan remains of great interest after 10 years of its first edition but the issues of genre nature, narrative features, chronotope, context, in general and the artistic originality of the work have not yet been clearly defined. In our opinion, an appeal to the literary context of a work (either it is explicitly expressed by the author or hidden) can clarify not only these issues, but also the author’s point of view;it is formed in the unity of composition, style, and symbolism of the text. It is the study of the context (internal and external) of the literary work and the related problem of the reader’s.
