ROLE AND PLACE OF EDUCATION IN ENSURING NATIONAL SECURITY

Abstract:

Introduction. In the national security strategy of the Russian Federation, national interests are en-sured, inter alia, through the implementation of science, technology and education. A decrease in the quality of education and in its accessibility may lead to the weakening of the country’s national security. The pur-pose of the article is to analyze state documents, scientific publications and determine the directions of de-velopment of education in the aspect of ensuring national security.
Materials and methods. The study is based on the systemic and personality-activity approaches.
Results. The role and importance of education in the national security system is also determined by the fact that it is the environment and the mechanism for the preservation and reproduction of the national (civil and ethnic) identity of society, its constituent individuals and groups. The content of education and upbringing should be determined by moral, ethical and worldview ideas that must be mastered at each level of education. The education is given the main role in providing a person with certain knowledge, skills, competencies that are necessary for safe living and for creating a comfortable and safe living environment.
Conclusions. Objectively, there is a need to justify and develop theoretical foundations and technol-ogies for implementing the educational process of universities to prepare future specialists for activities in the field of ensuring national security.
