Abstract:

Introduction. The article is devoted to the problem of alternative methods of scientific research in the field of economic theory. The alternative is that there are methods characteristic of the so-called “economism”, i.e. an approach based on the assertion that the economy is developed solely by its internal laws. Another group of methods is used by researchers who recognize the impact of non-economic factors on the economy. It is necessary to prove that differentiation of ideological positions of the researchers themselves influences the differentiation of scientific research methods.
Materials and methods. The main method of the research is the method of comparative analysis.
Results. Methodological approaches to the consideration of various problems that are the subject of the study of economic theory largely reflect the ideological confrontation of representatives of various theoretical schools and directions. Therefore, representatives of areas that recognize the influence of non-economic factors on the economy and their opponents use their research methods in the field of economic theory.
Conclusions. The methodology of economic research is not excluded from the ideological position of researchers. Representatives of various areas of economic theory, who categorically disagreed about the impact of non-economic factors on the economy, used various methods of scientific research, which reflected their ideological differences. An example is the “robinzonad” method and the holism method.
