Self-regulation progress in students as a component of psychological readiness for professional activity

Abstract:

In connection with the new requirement for the quality of higher education (the need to develop significant qualities for professional activity), it is urgent to shape students’ psychological readiness for independent professional activity considering self-regulation as one of important components. At the same time, the problem of research of pedagogical means for self-regulation progress in students is fixed. In accordance with this, the purpose of the study was to provide theoretical justification and experimental testing of business games as pedagogical means supporting students’ self-regulation progress as a component of psychological readiness for professional activity.
The methodological base consists of a subjective approach to substante the study of self-regulation as a component of psychological readiness for professional activity, a competency-based approach to choose business games as pedagogical means of students’ self-regulation progress. Theoretical and empirical research methods were used (questionnaires, pedagogical experiment, psychological testing). SibADI teachers and students participated in the pedagogical experiment.
A theoretical analysis of the state of the problem of students’ self-regulation progress as a component of psychological readiness for professional activity in Russian and foreign pedagogical science was carried out. The criteria for the development of students’ self – regulation as a component of psychological readiness for professional activity-regulatory actions were defined. An example of a scenario of a business game in psychological and pedagogical training, tested in a pedagogical experiment, is presented. The article describes the results of a survey confirming the need for students to develop self-regulation as a component of psychological readiness for professional activity, as well as the results of psychological testing, indicating a positive dynamics of self-regulation due to the implementation of regulatory actions in the course of business games.
The study of the process of psychological readiness shaping in University students for future professional activity is widely reflected in the works of modern researchers. Self-regulation is recognized as an important component of students’ psychological readiness for professional activity. The development of students’ self-regulation can be ensured by conducting business games in educational classes in the disciplines of psychological and pedagogical training, where students will be able to carry out regulatory actions. The conducted experimental work confirmed the positive impact of business games on the development of students’ self-regulation; it provides psychological readiness for professional activity.
