Modern childhood phenomenon and understanding of its boundaries

Abstract:

There is a constant interest ofspecialists in variousscientific fields in the phenomenon of modern childhood. The multidimensional nature of the childhood phenomenon raises a number of questions related to of its changing special status and boundaries understanding.
Childhood is considered as a socio-historical and cultural-historical category, as a complex phenomenon that has a certain capacity, structure and duration. Traditionally, the boundaries of childhood are associated with the phenomenon of growing up, it is noted that the childhood world is aimed at growing up, during which there is a development, appropriation of adulthood.
According to the results of the literature analysis it became possible to reveal a tendency of the childhood boundaries shift. The current sociocultural situation leads to a qualitative change in growing up and shifting the boundaries separating the world of childhood and the world of adults. At present, the boundaries of childhood are beginning to change in the direction of their lengthening. It is shown that in modern reality there is a problem of blurring the boundaries between the world of childhood and the world of adulthood.
There are several boundaries separating the world of childhood and the adult world. Understanding of the need for the adult community to revise the traditional position of childhood and the onset of a fundamentally new socio-cultural era of the child’s life in modern society.
