Political aspects of the religion and power interaction in the 1920s and 1930s. allow us to talk about the reassessment of traditional values in society. Widespread anti-religious propaganda is connected with the change of cultural paradigm and with political and ideological reorientation in the consciousness of Russian society. The destruction of sustainable behavioral norms leads to the weakening of traditional attitudes characteristic of the previous development of Russian society. In this regard, it is important to study the deformation of mass consciousness through the media. Representation of anti-religious texts in specialized journals of the period under the study allows to identify both features of religious subjects coverage and genre specifics of texts.
In the early 1920s. the USSR began to publish atheist publications, their task was to struggle with the vestige of the past in the people minds. It is noted that anti-religious work was carried out mainly through the press. Such publications include the “Bezhbozhnik” magazine which was predominantly of propagandistic and educational character. The analysis of the essays allows us to come to the following conclusions. First, the magazine’s focus is important, it fully reflects the media objectives of that period; secondly, the popularizer function of the magazine, its general theme allows us to talk about a certain readership, as a rule, it is poorly educated layers of workers and peasants. Finally, the model of anti-religious publication defined the nature of published materials, their genre specificity.
