Abstract:

As the title implies the article describes problems of development of trucking in Russia, connected with the impact of climatic and geographical peculiarities of the country’s location. It is analyzed issues of improving the quality of transport provision for individual regions of the Russian Federation through the formation of transport clusters. The world experience in the application of sectoral clusterization in devel-oped countries, the legislative foundations of the clustering of socio-economic space in Russia, and exam-ples of successful transport clusters in our country at present are analyzed. The mandatory and auxiliary components that form the transport cluster are grouped, and the functions they perform are specified. Attention is focused on the direct relationship between the level of socio-economic development of individ-ual territories and the presence in them of a developed transport system. At the same time, it proves that the basis for the formation of cargo transportation in most regions of Russia can only be road transport. The analysis of the dynamics of a number of socio-economic indicators throughout the country revealed problems: a massive outflow of people from rural areas, a decrease in the number of rural settlements and a lack of quality road freight communications with regional settlements. The author proposes to solve these problems through the formation of regional road transport clusters.
