Poetic discourse of the Thaw: M. Mokaev – poet of the sixties

Abstract. The article examines the poetic creativity of M. Kh. Mokaev the Balkarian writer of the sixties. For the first time the poetry of M. Mokaev is considered in the aspect of genre and thematic features, his poetics is studied in the context of historical processes being specific for the era of Khrushchev Thaw. Using the example of M. Mokaev’s work, an attempt is made to reproduce a holistic picture of the artistic thought of the region forming on the basis of the closest relationships with the socio-cultural dynamics in the country. During this period, the traditions of classical Russian and world literature were revived and developed, and an increase in national specificity was observed in the work of North Caucasian authors. The emergence of new forms and trends based on the synthesis of the spiritual and civil principles brought new models of lyric poem into artistic culture. In the course of the research, the most important aspects in the development of M. Mokaev’s artistic consciousness were identified, the main trends in the Balkar literature of the Thaw period were identified, the specificity of the relationship between continuity and innovation in the work of the poets of the sixties was determined.
