Abstract:

Introduction. The interest of researchers is attracted by the criteria for defining of new media and their types. The author attempted to classify new media and the information they spread for various reasons.

Methods. The article is based on the general scientific methodology of historical and philosophical analysis, the general theory of knowledge. As a leading method, a systematic approach is used, according to which any object can be considered as an integral complex of interrelated elements.

Results. The system of new media, as a set of elements that are in relationships and relationships with each other, forms certain integrity. Subsystems of new media complement each other, can be interconnected, and do not interact with some, but it can be indirect. The system of new media is open, heterogeneous, dy-namic, its state changes, value of some subsystems decreases, the others become popular.

Conclusions. Thus, the author proposed to classify new media for various reasons. From the point of view of the purpose of organizing of social relations, we can single out new media focused on informal co-operation or information exchange, from the point of view of reflecting of dynamic processes — operational and accumulative. From the point of view of the specifics of communicative activity, there are verifiable and partially verifiable new media. From the point of view of the spheres of manifestation, new media reflect non-political or socio-political interests. From the point of view of qualitative characteristics, new media spread fragmented, selective, systematized information.
