The essence and typology of the “sobriety” phenomenon: pedagogical aspect

Abstract. Currently, one of the most important conditions for the sustainable development of Russia, and any
other country, is the sobriety of its population. It is the sober lifestyle of people determining the quality of their lives and
accordingly, the level of the country development. Scientists from various fields of knowledge (medicine, psychology,
sociology, physiology) conduct researches to solve the alcohol problem. And the authors most often consider sobriety
in the context of the absence of intoxication or abstinence from poisoning with alcohol poisoning. The vast majority of
studies by well-known scientists are devoted to the ethanol effect on human body and the consequences of this poisoning.
There are few works devoted to identification of self-poisoning reasons. There is not also many researches studying
the ways, methods and techniques aimed at maintaining sobriety. In order to objectively assess the phenomenon, it is
necessary to study it not only practically, but also to conduct theoretical research. The phenomenon of sobriety as a norm
of life becomes particularly relevant for teachers. It is the teacher who brings up the generation that will determine the
future of our country. Hence, it is difficult to teach the basics of sobriety if it is not defined in science. Today the essence
of the “sobriety” phenomenon has not been revealed and its qualities have not been studied yet. The article suggests
the author’s approach to the typologization of sobriety using a categorical methodology. On the basis of the presented
approach, the qualities of the object are determined and a typological model of sobriety is formed.

Keywords: sobriety, alcoholism, typological model of sobriety, information criterion, categorical-system methodology.
