FORMATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS AT THE HIGHER SCHOOL

Abstract:

Introduction. The solution of environmental problems can occur not only at the level of protective ac-tions in nature conservation, but also mainly at the level of the human psyche. The purpose of the study was to conduct a typology of subjective attitude towards nature on the part of students and to develop areas that contrib-ute to the formation of the ecological awareness of bachelors in the system of higher technical education.

Materials and methods. The “Naturaphil” method was applied to diagnose the level of development intensity and to determine the type of subjective attitude towards nature. The data were processed using Stu-dent’s t-test and sign test.

Results and conclusions. The study revealed that the majority of students of technical universities pos-sess anthropometric type of environmental awareness. A number of directions in pedagogical work promoting formation of environmental awareness of students is proposed. They are: design and research activities in the region; technologies of the task approach based on the solution of professional ecological problems; practical involvement of students in nature conservation activities and psychological trainings. Application of these technologies in practice showed their efficiency in formation of ecological awareness (p≤0,05-0,01).
