Abstract:

Itroduction. The article is devoted to the scientific heritage of A. V. Chayanov. The main goal of our research is to identify his place among the other Russian economists of the beginning of XX century and the place of his theory of peasant economy cooperation among the other theories aimed at the prediction of the optimal way of economical development for Russia.

Materials and Methods. The main method of our research is the analysis of the history, economics and philosophy written sources, both immanent and comparative.

Results. The connection between Chayanov’s idea of peasant cooperation and collective socialism is revealed.

Conclusions. A. V. Chayanov is one of the main figures in the history of Russian economics and Russian socialism, a person whose role is just starting to be revealed. His theory of peasant economy coop-eration seems to be more prospective than NEP («new economic policy») and, of course, than the policy of «military communism». If the young Soviet state had accommodated peasant cooperatives, the history of Russian farming could have been quite different.
