Introduction. Digital and sociocultural globalization creates conditions for the expansion of the communicative practices of a modern multilingual and multicultural personality. The purpose of the article is to describe the features of the multilingual space of modern social media (using the example of a regional Internet forum) in the context of the communication culture in ethnocultural borderlands.

Methods. The material for the research was the texts of the Belarusian regional Internet forum forum.grodno.net as one of the popular platforms for multithematic communication of the multicultural Grodno region residents in the Republic of Belarus. The conceptual and methodological basis of the study was the theory of language contacts. The communicative-pragmatic approach is used to analyze the types of behavior of the Internet forum participants in their attitude to languages,.

Results. The language preferences of the participants of the Internet forum in the context of the ethnocultural borderlands and their contradictory behavior in relation to languages are described. The main factors of the different types of language code switching in the dialogs of the Internet community are identified and compared. The features of the discourse on languages in the content space of the Internet forum are considered.

Conclusions. The author concludes that the language community of the regional Internet forum of the Grodno region of Belarus is characterized by signs of unbalanced multilingualism. Language priorities and code switching of forum participants are due to the situation of bilingualism and multiculturalism, the globalization of various spheres of life, ideas about the social prestige of languages. Regular interphrase and intraphrase switching of language codes is used by forum participants to solve linguopragmatics and stylistic problems. The discourse on languages acquires an ideological and political character is distinguished by contradictory types of behavior in relation to languages, high emotionality, open hostility and speech aggression.
