Introduction. In order to identify the features of the temporal behavior of the Italians through the means of language the attempt to analyze Italian and Russian paroimias, reflecting the “time” concept, was made in this empiric research.

Methods. The study was conducted on the basis of comparative, contrastive and statistical methods. The material was chosen by a selection of Italian proverbs and sayings that reflect the concept “time”, with a total volume of 75 units. It was carried out by continuous sampling method of viewing of the phraseological dictionaries of the Italian and Russian languages.

Results and conclusions. In the result of the research the author grouped Italian paroimias in accord- ance with certain aspects of the time reflected in them. Similar and distinctive features of time percep-  tion in the above-mentioned cultures were also identified and described. The results obtained are of par- ticular interest not only in connection with the growing level of contacts between Italy and Russi a now- adays, but also for intercultural research in general. The field of application of the results can be quite diverse: from specialists in the field of linguistics, intercultural communication, to representatives of business, public figures, and students.
