THE MILITARY VOCABULARY OF THE RUSSIAN LANGUAGE AND CORPUS-BASED RESEARCH

Introduction. The purpose of the article is to identify the specifics of applying the corpus approach to the study of the military vocabulary of the Russian language. The problem area of modern linguistic research is the definition of the scope of the corpus approach to the lexicological studies of the Russian language. The article cites the opinions of scientists on the nature of the linguistic or language corpus, establishes the gen- eral features of the corpus approach terminologically determined by outstanding linguists. The superiority of corpus linguistics is the possibility to use corpus methods to study a linguistic phenomenon.

Materials and methods. The author applies the methods of corpus and scientometric analysis, it helps to evaluate the military vocabulary occurrence in modern linguistics in general.

Results. The results of the study are to assess the capabilities of the national corpus of the Russian language and the prospects to create a Russian military corpus on the following grounds: regional military language; lexical composition; elocutive composition; body of discursive formulas.

Conclusions. The author comes to the conclusion that corpus methods have a wide potential for re- search the Russian language. The study of the military vocabulary of the Russian language is possible by creating a military corpus of the Russian language.
