LINGUADIDACTIC POTENTIAL OF PARADIGMATIC AND SYNTHAGMATIC RELATIONS OF A TECHNICAL TERM

The Problem and the Subject: to consider the paradigmatic and syntagmatic relations of the tech- nical terms used in textbooks.

Methodology: the basic principles of cognitive and functional linguistics served as the methodological basis for the study; they are manifested a) at the level of the grammatical structure; b) at the level of semantic relations of terms such as “gender-type”, “function (language unit) – the way it is expressed”.

Results: students are brought to the awareness of the structural organization of a scientific text, its at- tributes: informative value, dividedness and cohesion.

Conclusions: the work on paradigmatic and syntagmatic relations of technical terms raises the level of terminological culture of students’ speech.
